Required permission
Planning Poker › Vote (estimation)Default: Tech Team, plus the project owner and admins.

Who does what

  • The person who starts the session runs it: they choose the ticket, reveal the votes and save the estimate. By default: Product Owner, Scrum Master or Project Manager.
  • Tech Team members vote.
  • Other members follow the session in observer mode: they see the results when the votes are revealed, without voting.

Start a session

  • From Tickets, click Planning Poker, then Start a session: the session covers the whole backlog.
  • Or tick tickets in Tickets, then Estimate in poker: they form the session's agenda. The whole project team is notified.

How it goes

  1. The facilitator clicks a ticket: voting opens.
  2. Each voter picks a card: ?, 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21 or ∞. Their vote stays hidden, and they can change it until the reveal.
  3. Reveal votes: the distribution, average, minimum and maximum are shown, with Consensus or No consensus depending on whether the votes agree.
  4. The final estimate is pre-filled from the votes; the facilitator changes it if the team agreed on another value, then clicks Save and next ticket.

A ticket can be skipped without scoring. End session closes the session for everyone.

See the ticket's details during the vote

The ticket's details are shown next to the cards, and a link opens it in a new tab to read its comments and attachments.
